bullet HISTORY - If you would have told me ten years ago that I would be into woodworking, I would have thought you were crazy. I got hooked on scroll sawing when my oldest son was in high school. After using and breaking his Dremel scroll saw, I replaced it for him with a small Sears model. Unfortunately, he couldn't find time to use it since I was always sawing. After a couple of years, I managed to wear that one out - literally - the machine fell apart from over use. By then I was making a little money from the scroll saw, so I went out shopping for the best, which at the time was the Hegner 18 inch Variable Speed Saw. That saw has been working great ever since it arrived in my home. I have updated it with a few items, like a foot switch, quick clamps, and the latest innovation in springs. So my OLD saw is every bit as good as the NEW Hegner. I have since added an Excalibur 30" saw to the tool list. This has allowed for doing some of those projects that just wouldn't fit under an 18" throat.

In 1997 I was privileged to be at the right place at the right time and got involved with the formation of the Scrollsaw Association of the World.  I have worked for SAW since then by managing the office functions and serving on the SAW Board of Directors. This volunteer activity has allowed me to meet many fine people who are also involved in scrolling and to travel more than I ever thought possible. Thanks to  a very supportive husband, my involvement with SAW has been a major part of my life since 1997.

bullet RESUME - I am a wife and mother of three grown children. My husband is a retired school teacher. I taught school also until we started our family . After my kids were in school I went back to work, but as a computer programmer. This job supported a growing family thru the college years. In the meantime, my growing interest in scroll saws drew me in a different direction. From needle crafts, needlepoint, counted cross stitch, knitting and crocheting, to wood working. I still do some of the needle crafts, but only as time allows. I now work full time at the wood working.

bullet OTHER INTERESTS - Once my kids were grown, I got a puppy to take care of. The sweetest little Alaskan Malamute you have ever seen. Kodi is now eight years old.  We also had a male Alaskan Malamute that we got through the Illinois Alaskan Malamute Rescue Association. Luke is now gone but a more lovable dog you will never find.  Micah joined our dog family in 2000. Trooper joined the pack as an 8 week old during Christmas of 2002. The dogs have gotten my husband and I out of the house more than the kids ever did. We now go backpacking, bicycling, dog sledding and camping (although we do not camp in the winter!). We bought a motor home in 2000 so there would be room to take all of the dogs with us as we travel. The dogs have brought so much enjoyment to our lives. I think we will always have at least one or two Malamutes from now on.
